A Message from Founder Andy Hickman
Hello, my name is Jesse Andrew Hickman. I would personally like to welcome you to the DIFFERENCE MAKERS website.
I was born in Sinton,Texas on February 8th 1943 and I have lived in Texas all of my life except for two summers spent in El Monte, Mexico with my dad when he was farming cotton there with my uncle. I was named after my dad’s father, Andrew Hickman and my dad's brother, Jesse Lee Hickman. God blessed me with a strong willed, family dedicated, God fearing mother and father. They taught me some very important things when I was a young boy. Most important of all, they taught me to fear and respect God and HIS sovereignty so that HE would become an anchor in my life. They also taught me the values of truth, honesty, integrity and to be compassionate of others. I think seeing my parents have respect for others without regards to their financial or social status had a profound effect on my outlook towards other people as I grew and matured as a young man. They along with my paternal grandmother also taught me the joys of fishing and being outside in God’s great creation. They taught me to respect nature because it was created by God for man’s enjoyment and pleasure, All of these things have stuck with me for 81 years., I was also blessed with a dad that supported everything my mother stood for and always backed her up 100%.
My mother and father were not “well to do” in fact we would have probably been considered poor. But, they taught me to be grateful and thankful for all that God allowed us to have and enjoy here on earth and to be aware of the plight of others, My parents taught me to be willing to share any of my good fortune with others and to be willing to always extend a helping hand to someone in need even to the point of sacrifice. This is probably the driving force behind me want ing to make a difference in other people’s lives. I have always wanted to be a
DIFFERENCE MAKER.
My parents taught me, there is a distinct difference between a head belief in Jesus Christ and a heart belief in Jesus Christ. Most people have a head belief in Jesus because there is absolute historical evidence that as a man HE existed.
